In my eyes this is the best demo ever made on the C64! Amazing graphics, nearly
all screens feature open borders and on top a really hypnotic soundtrack by
Jeff. The demo starts with a full-border interlace pic followed by some great
sideboarder plasmas. Another highlight are the perfectly smooth and fast
interfering circles. At the end of the demo you can see a multicolor slideshow
with pictures made by Mermaid, really stunning graphics considered that no extended color mode
like FLI or interlace was used. This part is accompanied by a slow and very
athmospheric Drum'n'Bass tune that matches perfectly to the fading-in and out
of the pictures.
This is by far my number one demo, so downloading this one is a MUST! |

Now this one is also a demo I have watched over and over again, despite its age. It's a classic, great effects like morphing filled vectors, interfering circles and amazing IFLI pics make this demo a real eye candy. Shogoon's and DRAX's music fit the demo very well and add to what this demo stands for: A perfect harmony between music and effects, overall maybe one of the few demos that have a perfect design. |

Krestology by Crest can't really be called a demo, it's more a slideshow with
nice design and great tunes, mostly done by Mitch & Dane and DRAX. But once you
look at this production it will blow you away: Crest invent several new graphic
modes in this demo, they even call a part of the demo "Truecolor Dreams", which
is actually quite true. ;-)
This is one of the first demos I have seen after a long time of absence from the C64, shortly after I got my PC. And there was hardly a demo that made my jaws drop like this one, considered I had still the standard from 1992 in mind. If you want to do yourself a favour, grab this demo, turn off the lights, turn up the volume and sit back and relax. |

And the shooting star of the year 2002 is - Digital Magic by CREST!
Done by one man alone (Dane) in more than 2 years work, this demo really convinces me from the artistic point of view. No mindblowing code, except maybe for the digi-tune that plays on top of the open sideborder interlace pic, but apart from that just beautiful, breathtaking handpixelled graphics, a both funky and moving musical score and great design. I somehow knew that this demo would end up here by the sheer look of the directory layout. Then a voice told me to shut this emulator down again and transfer the demo to a real floppydisk and watch it on the machine it is intended to be seen - a real C64. I wasn't disappointed. |

The guys from SAMAR always did demos that are a little bit different - and so is Opium. They use weird pastel colours, not the neon-bubble-fun colours other demos use. They have a weird musician called DAF that produces weird techno-styled sounds with lots of speed-changes and a skillful coder that mixes all together to a weird production... One should check out all their stuff, this is definitely some steps apart from normal. Weird... |

+H2K aka Normal is Boring is another burner demo, with the title being program. Indeed, normal is boring, and so Plush is stepping away from the "normal" style and tries to do something different. And what comes out is a perfectly designed demo not so much meant as a show-off of effects but more as a harmonic entity that carries a message - Normal IS Boring. |

Wow, who would have thought that the 10th year after the announced death of the
C64 would bring us such a burner demo! To our all surprise Dane and HCL teamed
up to raise the standard once more:
Dane provided fine graphics and three (sadly a little similar sounding) soundtracks. HCL took all that, added a little of his coding magic and mixed it all up to a brilliant product with perfect design, good synching of effects and build-ups to the music and even some coders pr0n on top of it. The music is 4x throughout the demo, something we have rarely seen in rather effect oriented demos like this one. The music itself is technically and musically on a very high standard, but after having watched the demo 3 times after another with all the soundtracks I must beg you, Dane: Please, no more Madonna...! ;-) |

In 2001 Booze Design with their outstanding coder HCL released this demo to the public. Basically an oldschool production with the option of skipping screens with the space bar it is nonetheless overall a very modern designed demo. Amazing graphics with open borders and several screens high, a funky soundtrack contributed by Agemixer, Vip, GOTO80 and Glenn Rune Gallefoss make this demo moreover a earcandy. For maximum viewing- and listening-pleasure download this demo! |

At X-2001 Resource shocked the audience with their new demo Soiled Legacy.
OUTRAGEOUS effects in high resolutions dominate this demo, like lensflared
bumpmapping, a very colourful interlaced plasma-effect and a lightning fast
dot-tunnel. No need to say that Glenn Rune Gallefoss, who is responsible for
the SID programming, is a guarantee for absolute ear-exitement.
This demo would have rated higher if the fade-ins and -outs would be a little more harmonic, but unfortunately there are some small, but still disturbing loading/decrunching breaks between some parts. Let's hope for the 100% version where these minor glitches will hopefully get fixed. Nevertheless this demo is a must-see! |

Time for a Smash demo in the Top 10!
This demo tells a story about an alien invasion. The graphics are amazing, sound is hypnotizing and everything was put together very skillful. |
